Third cholera outbreak in Yemen due to ongoing aggression, siege

In light of the ongoing US-Saudi-UAE aggression and siege on Yemen, cholera outbreak, which claimed thousands of lives last year, has returned.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In light of the ongoing US-Saudi-UAE aggression and siege on Yemen, cholera outbreak, which claimed thousands of lives last year, has returned.

The Yemeni Ministry of Health reported more than 70 thousand cases and suspected cholera cases during the three months, with more than 103 associated deaths since the beginning of the year.

Despite the efforts of the concerned parties to reduce the spread of cholera the Yemeni Ministry of Health confirmed the inability of government agencies to rehabilitate what damaged by raids of the US-Saudi aggression in infrastructure.

Health centers in the capital Sana'a have been crowded with cholera cases for days in a new pandemic for the third time since 2017. Concerned people in Al-Sabeen Hospital reported that the number of cases that occur every day reaches 140 cases, 80% are confirmed and severe, with complexities the hospital faces to accommodate patients.

Cholera can be treated with oral hydration salts, though more severe cases require intravenous fluids and antibiotics. But the hospitals in Yemen are incapable to cover such easy treat due to aggression and siege.
